“Custody is not easy for my client,” she said.

“My client was severely assaulted at the start of this year.

“He is now in protection as a result.”

Ms Roper told the court Teamo was attacked by seven other inmates so severely he was in intensive care for five weeks.

Teamo was returned to custody in August after his parole was revoked pending the outcome of the assault matter.

The court was told that on May 4, Teamo was in Pacific Fair with a friend when he hit them on the back of the head, knocking the sunglasses off his head.

He then kicked the friend’s $170,000 Mercedes Benz leaving a dint in the door.

On May 13, Teamo’s house was searched and police found a water pipe.

When he was taken to the watchhouse, Teamo was asked to remove his underwear and a clip seal bag containing 0.296g of the drug ice fell to the ground.

Magistrate Kay Philipson said she was not going to give Teamo another suspended sentence as she felt that proved no deterrent.

She sentenced him to three months prison with immediate parole eligibility.

It is not clear when Teamo will be released as he must now submit an application to the parole board.

He will remain in protective custody until his release.
