A GOLD Coast mum has made a desperate plea to help find her son’s bike after it was stolen from right under the noses of police.

The bike had been left outside the Southport Police Station on Saturday night when it disappeared without a trace.

Thieves broke the lock on the bike, leaving the chain on the footpath and rode away, unbeknown to police officers inside.

Tina Kalamara said her son, 15, had chosen to leave his $500 bike in the bicycle rack outside the station because he assumed it would be safe with police coming and going.

“He takes it every where but thought it would be safe locked outside the police station,” she said.

“We will not be able to buy another.”

Ms Kalamara said it was the first time the teen had left the bike in public.

The boy returned three hours later at 11pm to discover the bike had been taken.

Ms Kalamara shared images of the missing bike on Facebook and urged anyone who has seen it to contact her or police.

The bike is described as a 2017 black and white Focus brand, with the word ‘Focus’ emblazoned on the frame.

Ms Kalamara told the Bulletin the incident has been reported to police, who are reviewing CCTV footage.

A police spokeswoman confirmed officers are investigating the incident.

It’s the second time the family has had a bike stolen since moving to the Gold Coast, after another went missing from their apartment block a year ago.
