THE $60 million revamp of The Spit will take another big step forward this week as concrete is poured for a new exercise pathway.
The path will run from the Muriel Henchman precinct to Doug Jennings park at the northern tip.
The project will create 10 jobs.
Treasurer Cameron Dick said the project was one of several moving forward on The Spit.
“I am also delighted that work is progressing on two community projects at Moondarewa Spit and along the Seaway Promenade,” he said.

“Expressions of interest for the construction work on those projects closed this week with work expected to commence mid-year.
“Ensuring these projects progress during COVID-10 restrictions means not only can locals and visitors look forward to these improved facilities being ready to use by the end of the year, it also means more work for Gold Coasters.”
The Spit Master Plan is expected to create more than 1800 jobs in coming years as new features are added to the area.
Gold Coast Waterways Authority chief executive Hal Morris said the shared pathway will link up with the two community infrastructure projects which are about to begin construction.
“We’re excited to be creating special destinations at The Spit that celebrate our relaxed outdoors lifestyle,” Mr Morris said.
“This pathway will connect locals and visitors to the Moondarewa Spit foreshore parkland improvements and the Seaway Promenade which we’re delivering as part of the Master Plan’s implementation.
“We look forward to keeping Gold Coasters informed about the improvements coming to The Spit as work progresses,” he said.
