A BROADBEACH site just a handful of metres from the light rail will be transformed into a new high-rise.
NSW developer Royal Group Australia has unveiled plans for a 31-storey tower on Surf Parade which will have views from the ocean to the Hinterland.

According to plans lodged with the Gold Coast City Council, the tower will have 200 units split between hotel rooms, serviced apartments and four large units which will be on the 29th floor.

The site is currently occupied by two unit blocks of two and three storeys respectively, which date back to the 1960s.
It is the first time a developer has proposed revamping the site.
“The sleek rectangular form of the tower aligns with the shape of the site while creating deep setback zones to the southern boundary and positioning the narrowest edge of the building to the western part of the site,” a planning report to council said.
