A SUBURBAN shopping centre in Palm Beach will be transformed into a $50 million tower as part of a plan to be unveiled tomorrow.
Developer Cru Collective plans to demolish the Palm Gardens shopping centre at the intersection of Mawarra Ave and Townson streets and replace it with a nine-storey boutique unit complex.
The project will be lodged with council tomorrow morning and will include a 400sq m shopping centre on its ground level, with room for seven tenants.
Cru managing director Chris Bolger said the development would “breathe life into the ageing centre”.
“Palm Gardens at Mawarra Street will add a fresh boutique injection of needed retail services at the northern end,” he said.

“The feedback we received from clients, agents and our consultants over the last 12 months has been an invaluable tool in designing Palm Gardens.
“We know exactly who our customer is and what they want. These homes are large, off the highway and offer unobstructed view corridors.”
The development will feature 69 units, including 53 two-bedroom and 15 three-bedroom apartments.
Cru Collective bought the site last year and, if approved, the Palm Gardens tower will be its third project in Palm Beach in recent years following the recently completed Acqua Beachside Residences and luxury beachfront Siarn Palm Beach North.
Palm Beach has become a development hotspot in recent years with a significant number of mid-rise projects under construction.
Some locals have objected to the amount of construction, arguing it was overdeveloping the area.
