Coronavirus: Cases spike on Gold Coast

The Gold Coast has had the highest jump of coronavirus cases confirmed in one day. Here’s the latest update.

QUEENSLAND Health have confirmed tonight there have been 15 new COVID-19 cases confirmed on the Gold Coast.

It is the city’s largest single jump to date. Previously, it was yesterday with eight new cases.

The total number of individuals infected on the Coast now sits at 79.

The state total number of cases sits at 397.

Queensland Health will notify the community if any other public health alerts are required.

The majority of cases are from patients who have travelled overseas, or have had direct contact with a confirmed case who had travelled overseas.

The first case in the state was diagnosed on the Gold Coast on January 29, since then local cases have risen exponentially, despite the warnings of health authorities.
