AN 8-year-old girl is among the five new novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases confirmed on the Gold Coast today, bringing the city’s number of infected to ten.

In a statement today Queensland Health confirmed the child and four adults had been isolated and were being treated by the Gold Coast Public Health Unit for the potentially deadly virus.

The new cases are among the 15 new cases confirmed in Queensland today.

The most recent local patients include three men aged 40, 55 and 63, a 67-year-old woman and the eight-year-old girl.

The news follows the diagnosis of Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson on the Gold Coast this week.

All patients are currently stable and a majority had either travelled overseas or have had

exposure to a confirmed case.

As of this afternoon the state’s total number of cases since coronavirus first emerged sits at 61 cases, including three passengers from the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

Contact tracing is still underway for all new cases.

doctor immediately.

Ensure you call ahead to your GP to let them know you’re coming, so they can prepare and provide you with instructions.
