Chief Minister Eva Lawler $120,000 of funding through Screen Territory’s Funding Program

Chief Minister Eva Lawler says promoting the Territory to “global” audiences will strengthen the economy. Read which three projects received a cash boost.

Chief Minister Eva Lawler has confirmed $120,000 in funding has been granted to support a trio of film projects with a view to bolster the Territory’s screen industry.

The three projects were awarded a financial leg-up through the latest round of Screen Territory’s Funding Program, aimed at supporting local screen practitioners and bring the Territory into the entertainment spotlight.

Ms Lawler said she was “proud” to boost the profiles of local talent.

“My government is determined to create as many working opportunities for Territorians as possible in multiple sectors,” she said.

“The screen industry supports business and jobs across a broad range of activities and professions.”

It was revealed Ambience Entertainment would receive $10,000 for the production of Muster Dogs Where Are They Now – a four-episode ABC documentary series filmed across Darwin, Douglas Daly and Katherine.

Tamarind Tree Pictured received $40,000 to produce its 30 minute NITV documentary Emily – I am Kam, which celebrates one of Australia’s most significant and prolific artist’s Emily Kam Kngwarray.

Finally, Exposure Production was awarded $68,500 for its documentary Tracy, which will be broadcasted on Nine Network.

Ms Lawler said it was an objective to capture the attention of international audiences.

“Screen projects bring substantial economic benefits for the Territory through the creation of jobs and good and services and through the promotion of the Territory to global audiences.”

The announcement follows another win for the film making sector, after Screen Territory last week confirmed Prime Video show Deadloch would be coming to the Top End for an entire season.

The major screen production was scooped through the Production Attraction Incentive Program with a $718,000 investment, with a view to providing local professionals employment opportunities.
