Man charged after armed robbery at Coolangatta Priceline

A man has been charged after allegedly threatening staff with a knife and demanding they hand over medication at a Gold Coast chemist.

A man has been charged after allegedly threatening staff with a knife and demanding medication from a chemist on the southern Gold Coast.

Police allege the man entered Priceline on Marine Parade in Coolangatta about 7.15am on Tuesday.

He allegedly threatened staff with a knife and demanded they hand over medication.

When employees complied, the man then allegedly locked himself in the staff kitchen.

Police were called to the scene and officers forced their way inside the kitchen and arrested the man.

The 23-year-old man from Lismore has since been charged with two counts of stealing and one count of armed robbery.

He will front Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

No one was physically injured in the incident.
