A new Burleigh Heads venue will bring a taste of Italy to the Gold Coast.
Lito, on the ground floor of the new Mondrian hotel, will open this week and will flow from morning coffees to long lunches and late night dinners.
At the helm of the all-day restaurant is Italian-born head chef Andrea Morigi.
He said the menu celebrated simplicity and was shaped by local ingredients.
Dishes include wood-fired breads, hand rolled pasta, slow-cooked porchetta, calamari and tiramisu.
The breakfast menu features Calabrian poached eggs, sourdough toasties, wood-fired calzones and coffee.
“It’s about joy on the plate – handmade, wholehearted, relaxed,” Morigi said.
“Like the kind of meal best shared among friends with something good in the glass.
“Lito invites you to settle in without watching the clock for a long lunch, a slow dinner or anything in between.”
The wine list will rotate with the seasons featuring both Australian and Italian producers as well as spritzes and signature cocktails.
The interior blends Mediterranean details and a relaxed Australian vibe with indoor dining, alfresco tables and a semi-private chef’s table beside the open wood-fired kitchen.
The Mondrian’s beach club and restaurant Haven is also set to open this week, complete with private cabanas and a sunset bar.
It will use local seafood from Cairns, the Sunshine Coast and northern New South Wales as well as meats and seasonal produce from the hinterland.
Lito will welcome their first diners on June 5.
