“Nearly gave me a heart attack”
A dad has taken to Reddit after mistaking his daughter’s car seat for her, sitting in the car.
“Out of the corner of my eye I thought that I left my daughter strapped into the hot car all day. Nearly gave me a heart attack,” the poster said.
“Who designed this??”
The car seat, called the Cinderella 2-in-1 Harness Booster Car Seat, is sold by KidsEmbrace for $249.99 USD.
The design can be purchased with a variety of Disney characters, from Princess Tiana to Buzz Lightyear and Minnie Mouse, and features said character’s face on the seat’s headrest, making for an easy mistake if you’re not looking.
“It’s not a well thought out idea”
Commenters were just as concerned about the design of the seat, calling it ‘creepy’ and ‘uncanny’.
“This is honestly the creepiest car seat I have ever seen. It’s not a well thought out idea. I also wonder how many passersby are ready to call the cops on you until they realize it’s just the seat,” one commenter said.
“I'd prefer if it was just fabric with a pattern of the princess and symbols like they do for blankets and stuff like that. Not this extremely uncanny design,” another agreed.

“You guys bought the seat!”
Some, though, were more critical of the dad, asking why he would purchase something like this in the first place.
“Well, you guys bought the seat though,” one commenter said.
“I don’t know, but ‘who the f*ck would buy this?’ should be your thought,” said another.
“Then why did you/your significant other/the child's care taker buy that car seat? Genuine question. Not trying to be impudent,” a third agreed.
“You bought it. Installed in your car. How are you just now asking this question?” another person said.
Replying in the comments, the man said his wife purchased the seat hoping it would make their daughter feel more comfortable - having no idea it would have this effect when you notice it out of the corner of your eye.

Could it actually be a good thing?
Off the back of numerous deaths of children as a result of being left in hot cars by accident lately, some commenters were suggesting that the alarming effect could actually be a good thing, forcing parents to do a double take.
“Maybe that’s not a bad thing. Makes you check twice,” one person suggested.
But, others were worried it could have the opposite effect.
“I would worry I would subconsciously start ignoring that area when getting out of the car and eventually actually forget my kid sleeping in that seat,” said one commenter.
