SHINE bright like a diamond if you’re heading to the jewel race day tomorrow — that’s the fashion advice from the Gold Coast Turf Club.
Marketing manager Anne Reynolds said all that glitters was expected to be on show trackside for the $1.5 million race day.
“There’ll be plenty of sparkle with jewel crowns, hair pins with bright, sparkly stones and for men a small jacket pin with a shine,” Ms Reynolds said.

“To incorporate the jewel theme we have also focused on the state gem for Queensland which is the sapphire.”
For garment colours, Ms Reynolds said emerald, deep blue, yellow and maroon were the top picks for autumn race-style trends.
“Mustard yellow and gold to purple, reds and burgundy are on trend for autumn racing fashion,” she said.

“(We’ll see) smart suits for men with brown or burgundy jackets.
“For our general admission areas, where dress code is more relaxed, we have seen smart capri shorts and short-sleeved collared shirts.
“Ladies will expect to see off-the-shoulder or one-shoulder, three-quarter dresses, pant power suits and tailored jump suits.”
With the weather forecast looking patchy, Ms Reynolds recommended keeping hair secure and shoes sensible.
“We will expect to see tight, slick low buns with plenty of pins and spray.
“Crowns and hair pins will add that sparkle and shimmer and hold everything together.
“Smart footwear will also be a must — for our lawn party we suggest a platform or wedge, or anything patent leather or leather.”
