TALLEBUDGERA CREEK WALKING TRACK
Burleigh Heads
BURLEIGH’S Oceanview track draws the crowds, but head a couple of kilometres inland to discover a more private slice of paradise.
Tallebudgera Creek Walking Track, which starts in Burleigh’s David Fleay Wildlife Park car park, offers a different angle of the photogenic blue creek … and there’s a good chance you’ll get it all to yourself.
Recently reopening after council work following a landslip, the 1.5km walk takes around 30 minutes meandering through mangrove-lined waterways, eucalypt forest and rainforest gullies.
A boardwalk protects a thriving ecosystem, raised above the twisted trunks and snorkel-like roots the grey mangroves use to breathe underwater.

Plan a sleepover at a brewery or vineyard within a short drive of the Gold Coast
While wild koalas live in this little pocket of paradise, you can guarantee yourself a cheeky sighting by peeking over the fence at Fleay’s.
The screech of sulphur-crested cockatoos provides the soundtrack, but keep your binoculars handy for azure kingfishers, fairywrens and rainbow bee-eaters flitting through the foliage.
Water views open up towards the end of the track, with well-hidden rope swings a sweet summer reminder of favourite local swimming spots.
The first 400m of boardwalk is wheelchair accessible, arriving at a lookout with room to turn wheelchairs around.
If you fancy finishing your outing with a coffee, Parlour, Woodbox and Plantation House cafes are just a minute away.
