PETHERS RAINFOREST RETREAT
Tamborine Mountain, Qld
Made up of 10 tree houses tucked at the end of a rambling driveway, Pethers Rainforest Retreat is made for couples.
Accessed by a web of paths suspended above the leafy floor, each of the love nests is cleverly positioned for privacy.
Giant windows, spanning from timber floors to lofty 5m ceilings, and glass sliding doors on to a tree-wrapped deck encourage total immersion, with whipbirds supplying the rainforest soundtrack.
There’s champagne and chocolate chilling in the fridge, candles lining a very roomy spa bath, a fireplace and a kingsize bed cocooned in crisp cotton.

CRYSTAL CREEK RAINFOREST RETREAT
Upper Crystal Creek, NSW
Forest bathing is taken literally at this romantic retreat in Northern NSW.
General manager Mark van Renen believes their dreamy tubs are one of the biggest drawcards for couples.
“Our Mountain View Lodges have solid handcrafted marble baths — they weigh 1300kg, a proper two-person bath,” he says.
“Some of the baths look straight into old-growth rainforest — it’s like looking into Gondwana land — while others have views to Mt Springbrook or out to the coastal ranges.”
Candlelight completes the forest fairytale.
“We can set up 100 lit candles in the room, around the bath, along with flowers and champagne,” Mark says.
