FRIDAY the 13th was unlucky for some, but not Koi restaurant, which today reopened after a six-week $1.3 million rebuild.
Koi Dining and Lounge Bar’s general manager Steven De Maio said it “felt like a lifetime” since he had last seen his loyal clientele and he was itching to show off the all-new venue.
“With a cool coastal feel, you don’t have to go to Bali any more to enjoy a luxurious cocktail with that beach feel going on,” he said.
“No expense has been spared in completely transferring Koi into nothing short of the entire package, with next-level sound, lighting and furnishings.
“It’s going to be warm and comforting with some sophisticated areas that are welcoming but not too overwhelming.
“The decor is a fusion of stone, wood, tiles, cane baskets and leather furniture in an elegant range of colours and shapes that come together to create a seamless comfortable space.”

Mr De Maio said Koi remained a restaurant where everyone was welcome whether it was families wanting a highchair or friends who prefer a private booth.
Koi’s breakfast offering had been revamped and the dinner menu featured four favourites but included a plethora of new offerings including coal-cooked dishes and wood-fired pizza.
“We’ve created a whole new cocktail list with a new signature range including a $100 millionaire’s margarita that features tequila aged for 49 months in a bourbon barrel,” he said.
“As for the wine list we’ve added 26 wines so diners can enjoy a nice glass for $10 or we can offer a reserve wine for those ordering a $90 steak off the coals.”
The Koi Brothers will still perform on Sundays, with other live entertainers appearing on Thursdays.
