Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is like diving headfirst into a drama-filled snow globe, where inside is a blizzard of secrets and scandals. Think partner-swapping, sex toys, vaginal rejuvenation, arrests, male strippers and more!

The show follows eight women - Jennifer Affleck (yep, she’s related to Ben!), Taylor Frankie Paul, Demi Engemann, Whitney Leavitt, Mayci Neeley, Mikayla Matthews, Jessi Ngatikaura and Layla Taylor – who, like their Real Housewives counterparts, are living in and adjacent to the Mormon community in Utah.

If some of those names sound familiar, it’s because these ladies aren't just regular mums - they're cool mums with millions of followers and buckets of money thanks to their crazy success as Tiktok influencers with their group, #Momtok.

Warning: The following content contains spoilers!

Without giving to much away, we’re looking at the juiciest drama from the show that makes for some seriously binge-worthy TV.

Taylor Frankie Paul is reality television gold

While some of the cast remain, or try to remain, observant of the code of conduct encouraged by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, others display a much more relaxed attitude.

And then there’s Taylor Frankie Paul.

Paul is considered to be the one who spearheaded the #Momtok movement, which is essentially a series of dance-based TikTok videos that really took off during the pandemic. The “empowering” videos show a more modern side of Mormon life.

In the debut episode, Paul explains: "We were raised to be these housewives for the men, serving their every desire. Well, I'm like, 'f*ck this.' So I created MomTok, which started as a group of Mormon mums making TikToks. There was something freeing about it."

And boy, is she taking that taking that freedom and running. Hulu’s new unscripted series begins in the wake of a huge #MomTok drama that ensued when Paul publicly revealed, in a viral 2022 Tiktok video, that not only was she getting divorced, but that she and her husband – along with other Mormon friends from the community - had participated in “soft swinging”, which Paul describes as: "When you just hook up but you don’t go all the way."

Throughout the series Paul continues to provide the scandalous drama as she embarks on a new, toxic, relationship with a reformed drug addict that sees them embroiled in domestic abuse, arrests, pregnancies and more.

The $20,000 sex toy deal

Controversial cast member, Whitney Leavitt also brings her fair share of scandal to the series. If her name sounds familiar you may be remembering a 2021 moment that went viral when Leavitt faced a social media storm after filming herself doing a TikTok dance next to her very ill baby as the newborn struggled to breathe in hospital. Yikes!

These days she’s facing the wake of another scandal that shook her perfect Mormon wife image when it was revealed that her porn-addicted husband had a secret Tinder account. But all of this pales in comparison to her biggest drama … should she take a $20,000 deal to promote a sex toy?

“All I have to do is hold it and take a picture, just me, and post it on Instagram. That’s it," she tells her castmates, who launch into a conversation about their own boudoir habits.

Who is the boss?

All eight women on the cast reveal that their #Momtok success has made them the main breadwinners in their relationships, a far departure from their faith’s teachings. However, a few of the husbands would prefer that certain other aspects of their lives remain more traditional.

This is particularly evident when the women visit a Magic Mike strip show sending several of the men into a tantruming tail spin. The fallout of which will have you screaming “WHAT IN THE PATRIARCHY?” at your screens.

A new vagina is a good vagina

Look, if you had Labiaplasty you might invite all of your pals to come over and get right up in it to have a good look, and that is exactly whatJessi Ngatikaura did, but not before she invited all of her friends over to draw their own vulvas.

While this group of Mormon wives sat around sipping mocktails with names like “Labialicious” and “The Pink Pussy” Ngatikaura instructed them to paint a picture of their vulvas to give her inspiration for an upcoming surgery.

“The reason we’re going to do this is because, on Monday I’m getting a labiaplasty,” Ngatikaura tells her pals. “They’re cutting it all off, tightening it back up, getting a mummy makeover!”

In a nutshell, the show is a rollercoaster of jaw-dropping revelations, where the boundaries between loyalty, love, and religion are tested in the most dramatic ways possible. It’s the kind of scandal that’ll make you second glance your neighbours and wonder what’s really going on behind closed doors!
