Samantha Corbett’s Bald and The Beautiful turbans help cancer sufferers cope with hair loss

A Gold Coast mum has turned a negative into a positive, launching a thriving business after a devastating diagnosis.

SAMANTHA Corbett cried herself to sleep when cancer stole her long, brown hair — but colourful turbans changed the game.

The flamboyant mum was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2012 and became well-known for her fashionable approach to treatment.

After nine months of intense chemotherapy, radiation and dramatic hair loss, Ms Corbett was in the clear but has always had a burning desire to start The Bald and Beautiful — a Reedy Creek-based accessory label for women suffering from hair loss.

“It was an extremely emotional time, especially when I looked in the mirror,” the 50-year-old said.

“Life changed when I found colourful and fashionable turbans to match my outfits. However, it was more than headwear, it was a mechanism to help me mentally cope with the process and wipe away the tears.

“I just want other women and girls with cancer or alopecia to be excited to leave the house and flaunt their beauty. I want them to feel bald and beautiful.”

Ms Corbett decided to fulfil her dream after losing her job as a dental nurse during COVID-19 and started importing turbans from China and India.
