Another Irwin takes on DWTS
After months of speculation (and high hopes) from fans, Robert Irwin has officially been announced as the first celeb hitting the dance floor in season 34 of Dancing with the Stars this year.
The Aussie conservationist and son of the late Steve Irwin has had a huge year already, kicking it off with his internet-breaking Bonds campaign.
Now, he’s ticking off another bucket list item with DWTS, telling Good Morning America that it’s a dream come true to dance for his family on the show.
“I think the biggest reason why I was so excited to come on board this season of DWTS was to follow in my sister’s footsteps,” he said.
“I remember so vividly, still, like it was yesterday, being 11-years-old, I had my little bowl cut, and I would sit in the audience every live show, every single taping of Dancing, and I would just sit there and watch Bindi in such awe.
“I was just so proud of her. I was so emotional. I was just behind her every second, cheering her on. But there was a little part of me in my brain just thinking, ‘One day, that’s going to be me’, and now it is!”

“YES YES YES!”
Needless to say, fans of the show couldn’t be more excited to see Robert step up to the plate, flooding the show’s Instagram comments with praise.
“Whhhaaaattt is this real?!?!” said former contestant and US rugby great, Ilona Maher.
“YES YES YES! The moment we have all been waiting for!!” said another fan.
“AHHHHHH THIS IS THE NEWS I WAS WAITING FOR!!!!” another agreed.
“This is the best thing you could’ve ever done dwts,” another fan said.
Robert Irwin and…
Whilst Robert’s partner hasn’t been announced just yet, the majority of viewers are crossing their fingers that he’ll be paired with 19-year-old Rylee Arnold - the show’s youngest pro, who has previously been paired with Olympic gymnast ‘pommel horse guy’ Stephen Nedoroscik, and fellow Aussie Harry Jowsey, who you may recognise from Too Hot To Handle.
“PUT HIM AND RYLEE TOGETHER,” said one fan.
“R to the second power!!!!! Robert and Rylee for the win!!!!!!!! Pleaseeeeeeee!!!!!!!” another agreed.
Rylee has said multiple times on social media that Robert was her dream partner on the show - so we’ll have to see if this dream will become a reality.
Previous seasons of DWTS US haven’t been easily accessible in Australia, forcing many viewers (like me) to opt for a VPN, or keeping up via TikTok. But, with the world’s favourite Aussie now on the show, one can only hope they’ll be making it a little easier for us over here.
