Snake pulled from under Burleigh bed by Gold Coast and Brisbane Snake Catcher

GOLD Coast residents should be on the lookout for monsters under the bed after a local snake catcher rescued an enormous carpet python from a Burleigh bedroom.

Gold Coast and Brisbane Snake Catcher Tony Harrison and partner Brooke were called to the home after its young owner discovered the snake late last night.

In video livestreamed to Facebook, she can be heard explaining she locked the bedroom after noticing the 1.5m python under a pile of clothes.

“We think he’s the same one that’s been coming back for years,” she said.

“He was on my kitchen bench, I picked up the tablecloth and he was right under my hand. The tradies across the road helped me get him out and he hasn’t been back since.

“The cat’s been freaking out for about three days.”

Mr Harrison said many of the snakes they have caught recently have been inside.

“It’s not as if they choose to hang out with your pillows, but you leave your window open, they stick their nose in,” he said.

“Carpet pythons live in the ceiling, and it was probably trying to get up there and accidentally got inside. So it’s trying to get out as much as she wanted it to get out.

“You let your imagination run as to where a snake could end up and they’ll end up there.”
