THIS adorable one-year-old staffy is one of hundreds of RSPCA pups that needs a fur-ever home, but even if you can’t adopt her you can buy a cupcake.

PEPPER Pots might have a sweet tooth, but the adorable one-year-old staffy will have more to savour when she is rehomed through the RSPCA.
The Gold Coast branch will host a Cupcake fundraiser in Broadbeach on Monday towards purchasing a new animal ambulance and rehoming pets such as Pepper who was found as a stray.
Development Officer Samantha Robson said the Cupcakes by the Sea high tea event would be held at Madison’s Café in Broadbeach Mall, which is “famous for its cakes.”
“Tickets will cost $25 and will include cupcakes, sandwiches, beverages, live entertainment, raffles and live cake-making demonstrations,” Ms Robson said.
“Our ambulance is an older one and has broken down a few times and we are really keen to use funds raised to purchase a new one and help any seriously sick or injured animal on the Gold Coast with the appropriate care.”
RSPCA adoption co-ordinator Melissa Martin said while the RSPCA didn’t have a permanent rehoming centre on the Gold Coast, the agency worked alongside, and not against, other similar organisations, such as the Wildlife Sanctuary and the Animal Welfare League (AWL).
“A few of the guys from Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary volunteer to drive our animal ambulance, and we often refer people to the AWL if an animal needs to be sheltered,” she said.
“Our role on the Gold Coast is to find foster carers for pets until permanent homes are found and someone can adopt them.
“However the difference with the RSPCA is we are the only organisation that has power under the law to actually remove pets from bad home situations and we have inspectors who follow up cruelty complaints and can even lay charges and take people to court.
“Pepper is one of the pets who came to us as a stray in Brisbane and is being fostered on the Gold Coast until we can find her a ‘forever home’.
“She came to us quite young and we have been helping her gain weight and are teaching her manners, but she is just so playful and affectionate and would be a great pet in a home where people will keep her active and are able to continue training her.”
Cupcakes by the Sea will be held on Monday from 2pm — 4pm at Madison’s Café in Broadbeach.
