Her family had spent a small fortune on surgery and had taken a second mortgage on their house to fund the treatment but did not have the time to do the intensive rehabilitation.
That’s when sanctuary owner Lisa-Jayne Cameron stepped in, adding Nanook to her adorable menagerie of around 60 animals with special needs.
Nanook also hits the beach for water therapy.
“She rolls along the beach path with us in her wheelchair until the entrance to the beach itself then we lift her out of her wheels and carry her down to the water’s edge,” Ms Cameron said.
