Melbourne man Anthony Gluth takes a dip at Byron Bay beach after great white kills swimmer

A MELBOURNE man has shrugged off concerns after a fatal shark attack to go swimming at the same Byron Bay beach hours later.

A man has shrugged off concerns hours after a fatal shark attack near Byron Bay to go for a quick dip at the same beach.

As soon as police left the scene with the body of the victim, Anthony Gluth from Melbourne jumped straight into the waves.

“I’m just having a bit of a splash,” he said of his early afternoon dip.

“I won’t go out too far.”

Just hours earlier at about 10.30am, what was believed to be a four-metre long great white shark attacked a 50-year-old local man out swimming while his wife was on the beach.

Mr Gluth wasn’t the only person to head back into the water hours later - some swimmers and locals were back in surfing by the afternoon.
