It turns out humans are not the only ones who duck inside during hot weather.
So do snakes, which has led to an upsurge in sightings inside Gold Coast homes.
Tim Hudson from Hudson Snake Catching was recently called to remove a green tree snake which had made itself comfortable in the centre of a toilet roll in Pacific Pines.
He said it had likely snuck in to escape the heat.
“(The home owner) opened the door and saw it in the toilet roll. It was a green tree snake. It was a hot day,” Mr Hudson said.
“It was just trying to escape the heat outside.
“When it’s above 33 degrees it’s actually fatal to a lot of snakes. So a lot of them, even brown snakes, when it’s that hot they cannot be in the sun for extended periods of time.
“Therefore they might come inside to escape the heat and get cool.”
It’s not the first time Mr Hudson has encountered a snake in a toilet in recent weeks.
Last month he had to pull a python from a toilet bowl in Burleigh.
He also removed a 2.5 metre python found curled up under a Christmas tree from a house in Helensvale.
