Gold Coast VetLove clinic raises eyebrows with racy Helensvale sign

A Gold Coast vet clinic is turning heads with a racy sign advertising a procedure for pets.

A GOLD Coast vet clinic is turning heads with a new sign advertising desexing.

VetLove’s racy sign, just across the road from Helensvale State High, reads: “Those are a fine pair of testicles said no one ever! 20% off desexing”.

Practice Manager Felisia Green said while the idea for the sign had come from the internet, they always tried to keep people talking.

“We’ve got something different on our sign every week, we’ve definitely seen more desexings since we’ve started,” she said.

“We’ve had 50 Shades of Spay, we had a Bachelor Pet Day to try and rehome animals, we just try to make it a bit of fun to get some attention.”

EXTRAORDINARY GESTURE SAVES ‘CELEBRITY’ GOOSE

The desexing signs are all part of Operation Wanted, an annual desexing campaign allowing vet clinics around Australia to provide a 20 per cent discount on the service.

Ms Green said there had not been any complaints from the nearby high school.

“One of our nurses walked in on Monday morning and didn’t notice and one of the school kids was laughing his head off looking at her, she didn’t know what he was on about,” she said.

“To be honest they can help our cause. If they’re going home and saying ‘Mum, guess what the vet had on their sign today’, it just reminds people to desex their pets.”

The sign first got people talking when it was posted to Facebook page Gold Coast Community yesterday afternoon, earning dozens of comments.

“Had a wee giggle yesterday when I drove by,” read one comment.

“Vets with a sense of humour and that are amazing with my animals, we’re very happy pet parents,” wrote someone else.

It’s not the first time a raunchy sign has got people talking on the Gold Coast – a Surfers Paradise church left people in disbelief with their noticeboard in 2018.

The sign outside Anglican Church of the Holy Spirit read: “Forgiveness is swallowing when you’d rather spit”.

While filthier minds went elsewhere a spokesman from the church at the time explained the message to the Bulletin.

The church claimed they had no idea about the double meaning.

“You don’t open your mouth and yell at somebody, you close your mouth and swallow,” he said.

“If you want to say something, keep your mouth closed for a bit.

“Swallow it, don’t spit it out.”
