A GOLD Coast family have found a large python seeking refuge from humans under the bonnet of their daughter’s car.
Earlier today Lynda Halbert posted to a Pacific Pines community page alerting residents of their odd find.
“Just a caution, we found an unexpected passenger,” the post reads.
SNAKE PULLED FROM UNDER BURLEIGH BED
“Guess the warmth of a car engine appeals.”
The large python, a non-venomous species, was curled up under the bonnet of the car above the engine.
When questioned on how the family found the snake, Ms Halbert wrote: “Backing out in my car and saw him going under and up into our daughter’s car … absolutely huge!”

Ms Halbert wrote that her husband already had a pet snake, so wasn’t too fazed about the unusual find.
She wrote that her husband managed to wrangle the snake out in a pillowcase, although it did want to stay on top of the engine.
Many members of the Facebook group were horrified at its size, with one user commenting: “OMG if I found this I’d be packing up and moving back to NZ!”
EASTERN BROWN SNAKES FOUND AT MAIN BEACH
Local snake catcher Tony Harrison warned other residents that removing a snake was actually illegal and best left to a qualified snake catcher.
He said he understood the snake was using the car as a temporary refuge to get away from people it had noticed nearby.
The python was relocated to another area.
