THE Gold Coast's Animal Welfare League shelter is bursting at the seams with homeless dogs and cats, prompting a plea for locals to think about adopting before they head to the pet shop.
Volunteers at the Coombabah-based shelter are calling on Gold Coasters to give unwanted animals a second chance at life by giving them a furever home.
The shelter currently has scores of adorable puppies, cute kittens and loving adult dogs and cats, all eager to shower a potential new owner with unconditional love.
Among those up for adoption are two-month-old Australian Cattledog/Bull Terrier Huck, four-year-old cat Trixie and mother and son feline team Ozzie and Sarah.
CHOOSE TO ADOPT:
Huck:
Animal ID: 20614
Age: 2 Months 3 Weeks
Breed: Australian Cattledog / Bull Terrier
Huck is a playful puppy who will grow into a smart and witty dog with lots of personality. He has lots more growing to do and would suit an active home.
Trixie:
Animal ID: 16500
Age: 4 Years 8 Months 1 Week
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Trixie is a sweet girl who would like a nice quiet home where she can relax and have pats. She keeps to herself, but would much prefer to find her "special human" to take her home .Trixie has been waiting since March.
Ozzie and Sarah:
Ozzie and Sarah are a mother and son duo who would love to find a home together.
They have been together for five years and are very affectionate.
