Tammy Hembrow shares footage from the ‘scary and painful’ birth of her daughter Posy

Influencer Tammy Hembrow has shared incredibly personal footage from the dramatic ‘real and raw’ birth of her daughter, Posy.

Tammy Hembrow has shared graphic footage from the “real and raw” natural birth of her baby girl, Posy, one week on from the dramatic event.

The social media star and fitness mogul opened her 10-minute YouTube video, uploaded on Tuesday, by announcing just before 11pm she was in labour with painful contractions, and would take a shower before heading to hospital.

The 28-year-old, who delivered two previous children via caesarean, was then shown sitting in the shower listening to a meditation track.

Her sister Emilee Hembrow addressed followers at 12.30am while walking into the hospital from the carpark with her pregnant sister, her fiance Matt Poole, and their other sister Amy Hembrow.

The group stopped incrementally as contractions came, with Mr Poole using a pressure technique on his partner’s lower back to help alleviate some pain.

By 1am Ms Hembrow was four centimetres dilated and was filmed bent over in the hospital shower while Amy held running water over her back.

She then had some electric pulse patches applied to her back as her body entered the “transition” phase about 1.30am.

At that point she “started to feel like I couldn’t do it”, but five minutes later her “body started pushing”.

She was filmed knelt on the floor, yelling out in pain while telling her sisters, “I feel like the baby’s coming”.

“I was confused because I had only just been 4cm and now felt the urge to push,” she wrote in text across the video.

At 1.40am she recalled the midwife feeling that she was fully dilated, so she was moved to the bed where she was put in the birthing position.

“You’re fully dilated, you’re all right Tammy, she’s coming now,” Emilee told her, “you’re about to meet your baby”.

By 1.42am she was given the direction to start “consciously pushing”.

As Ms Hembrow wailed from the bed, he sisters repeatedly told her “you’ve got this”, with Emilee telling her, “you’re literally pushing her out”.

Doctors noticed Posy’s heart rate was “abnormal”, with one heard telling Ms Hembrow it was “very important” that she “push, and push well”.

“We need to get baby out quickly,” text across the video said.

“They give me an episiotomy and baby’s shoulder is stuck behind my pubic bone (shoulder dystocia).”

A moment later, Emilee announced the baby’s head was “coming out”, and with a few final pushes, Posy was born at 1.55am.

Medical staff quickly cleaned her of blood and Amy stepped up to cut the umbilical cord.

After a few brief moments in shock, Posy let out her first big cry and was lifted further up onto her mum’s chest.

“We did it, well I did it,” Ms Hembrow told viewers while holding her feeding newborn in one hand and a camera in the other.

At the end of the video she revealed that a few hours after the birth she “started haemorrhaging”.

“It was quite scary and painful and I lost almost two litres of blood but the doctors got it under control in a few hours,” she wrote.

“Overall I’m so happy with the birth and so blessed baby girl is here and healthy.”
