Tammy Hembrow was rushed to hospital on Thursday after being bitten by a dog, just days away from giving birth to her third child.

The pregnant fitness influencer shared a photo to her Instagram Stories last night of her heavily bandaged hand, revealing she required stitches as a result of the bite.

“Little update, lots of tears & spent yesterday in hospital but surprisingly not baby related,” the 27-year-old wrote.

“Had a clean out & stitches from a dog bite. Not the best day to say the least but I’m all good, just sore.

“Kinda glad baby hasn’t made an appearance yet because I pretty much can’t do anything with this hand atm.”

The Saski Collection founder is eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first child with fiance Matt Poole, having documented her pregnancy on social media.

Hembrow – who shares two children, son Wolf and daughter Saskia with her ex-fiance Reece Hawkins – recently revealed the baby has 12 fingers, the same rare mutation she and her sisters, mother and brother, was born with.

“We just saw the little baby, and the surprise was that she has 12 fingers, like me, like her mummy,” she told her 15 million followers.

“[Her sisters] Amy and Emilee had extra fingers when they were born as well, and so did my little brother. So did my mum. It runs in my family.”

Asked whether she’d be removing her daughter’s extra fingers following her birth in an Instagram Q&A, Hembrow said she would be, adding there was “no reason to keep them”.

The Gold Coast influencer announced she was expecting in December, just two weeks after her and Poole got engaged.

At the time Hembrow shared a video of herself in a fitted black dress walking towards her fiance in the garden of her waterfront home on the Gold Coast.

She was seen moving in slow-motion towards Matt before the camera panned to the front of the couple, showing off her exposed baby bump.

In March, she announced it hadn’t all been smooth sailing, explaining that she’d felt constantly lethargic throughout her pregnancy because she is fully anaemic.

She revealed in March she’d been diagnosed as fully anaemic which explained why she constantly felt tired.

Anaemia is a condition in which the blood doesn’t have enough healthy red blood cells or haemoglobin to carry oxygen around your body and to your baby.

According to Pregnancy, Birth and Baby, mild anaemia is common in pregnancy.

“My doctor text me my blood results and said I am fully anaemic now,” Hembrow said.

“It probably explains why I am so tired all the time.”

She said she was baffled by the result, texting her doctor back demanding answers.

“I was like, ‘Why is this happening. I take (iron) supplements. I eat lots of spinach. I am doing everything (because) I had low iron in the beginning (of my pregnancy), so I have been trying to consume a lot of iron.’

“And his response was, ‘Well it’s happening because the parasite in your stomach is sucking all the goodness out of you,’ and he said they’re known for that.”

Hembrow said she needed to get an iron infusion.

“I never had low iron with Wolf and Sass, so it’s so weird to me,” she continued.

“I feel like that explains (why) some days I wake up and literally feel like I’ve been hit by a bus and it’s such a struggle to even get up out of bed.

“But I have to, I’m a busy mummy.”
