Mum spray paints footpath for unusual reason - and people are outraged

"You’re not very bright, are you?” read one brutal comment. But was she simply helping her son? 

A mother has sparked debate online over her unconventional solution to getting her son home safely from the school bus stop.

Armed with a can of fluorescent pink spray paint, she took to TikTok to share her idea—one that has now racked up over a million views.

The video’s caption reads: “Painting a path home for my 6-year-old because the school bus drives right by our house, but won’t stop for a mile.”

She explained that she had done everything she could to convince the school district to allow the driver to stop closer to home—but nothing worked.

“I jumped all the hoops, but they won’t open the door on our street, even though they drive right by my house,” she said.

But while she may have found a creative fix, the internet wasn’t convinced it was a safe one.

Her comment section quickly filled with concerns about the dangers she might be inviting and leading, right to her front door step.

“This world is too crazy for that,” one person warned.

Another commenter was more blunt: “So instead of walking to get your child, you create a permanent trail straight to your door for ANYBODY to follow them home? You’re not very bright, are you?”

One woman’s warning was particularly chilling.

“I was kidnapped at age nine on my bus route. Make sure you speak with your district and enforce the driver to pick up and drop your child off,” she urged.

"Call the school"

Others suggested safer alternatives. 

“Have whoever is caring for the child meet them at the bus stop or get after-school care,” one person wrote.

“Call the school and ask to schedule a meeting,” another advised.

Despite the backlash, the mother insists she is at a loss for what else to do.

She explained that the bus arrival time is unpredictable.

“Truth be told it worked though. He showed up at the door as I was leaving to go get him. NOT IDEAL, but these buses show up 30 min early or late,” she admitted in the comments.

While she acknowledges that painting a path home wasn’t the best decision, she says her real intent in sharing the video was to highlight her frustration with the school district.
