Attacked 14yo was an “innocent victim”
In a report from 9News, the driver and passengers of the car were armed with machetes and a box cutter and demanded the boys hand their phones over.
According to a parent of a student who witnessed the attack, the 14yo was pushed into the “front seat” of the car with his legs hanging out.
The Year 9 student came out of the car while it sped off.
“He was running alongside it, and she said he like fell out or was pushed out,” the parent told 9News.
A grey Volkswagen was later found burnt out in Dandenong at midnight, although police are yet to confirm if it was the same vehicle related to the alleged abduction.
The 14-year-old boy was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
According to Detective Acting Senior Sargeant Lisa Watson, the boy appeared to be an “innocent victim on his way home from school.”
“The child is not in a position to speak to us at this time, so there are some facts and circumstances that we won't be aware of and unable to confirm until we've been able to speak with him,” she said.

Several reports of machete-wielding attackers near school
Detectives explained there have been reports of another four teenagers who were robbed by two people with machetes at 3:25 PM on nearby Kambrook Road.
The incident occurred only a few minutes before the 14yo was pushed into the car.
“We know of the two incidents in Caulfield and Glen Huntly yesterday, further incidents we have information on,” said Senior Sargeant Watson. “Mobile phones were taken and I believe some other personal belongings.”
“As a parent, it makes me absolutely sick to think that my boy could be walking home from school and randomly confronted by people with knives.”
A woman believed to be the mother of the robbed teens called 3AW to confirm the story, explaining her 15-year-old daughter was robbed on Kambrook Road.
“She was walking past the school and walking home, and a car came out of nowhere,” she said. “A group of them were in the car with machetes, and they started yelling at them to give them their things and mobile phones.”
According to her daughter, “Every one of them had machetes.”
Parents of students have backed up these claims, with their kids claiming there have been several other attacks of a similar nature.
“As a parent to get that call would be absolutely horrific,” said a parent. “There's no words to describe it.”
Glen Eira Secondary College shared an email with students and their parents about the incident.
“This is a horrible situation which has no doubt shocked many of our school community,” the email read. “Our hearts go out to the student, student's family and friends during this time.”
Anyone with information about the grey Volkswagen Tiguan, who witnessed either incident, has CCTV or dashcam footage or any other information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
