I named my baby after the unexpected place where I gave birth

Apparently, the couple's unborn daughter was very keen to join them!

A mum-of-three named her child after the place where she gave birth to her new addition - a seafood restaurant.

In an interview with Today, Alyse Sparkman explains that she and her husband, Sean, headed to the hospital on April 27th after she started having contractions.

But the hospital sent the couple home because she wasn't in active labour.

Two minutes later...

So the two headed to one of their go-to restaurants - Lily's Seafood Grill and Brewery- to grab something to eat.

Apparently, the pair's unborn daughter was very keen to join them!

Alyse recalls the fact that she was still chewing her first bite of her trout when she felt her water break.

She immediately told Sean what was happening and he ran to go get the car.

But by the time he had gotten back, their baby girl was already in the world as she had been born just two minutes after Alyse's water broke.

The touching nod to the unexpected birthplace

“I’m sitting at a light and she calls me and says, ‘I had the baby,’” Sean says. When Sean realised she wasn't joking, his heart sank.

"I was like, ‘Oh no, I can’t believe I missed it. I feel so bad,'" Sean recalls. "She goes, ‘Don’t feel bad — just get here!’”

In a stroke of luck, there were two nurses seated nearby who were able to untangle the umbilical cord, which was wrapped around the baby's neck.

In a nod to her unusual restaurant birth, the baby girl was named Penelope Lily Sparkman.
