Activity

Three tomatoes

Draw and cut out three circles 9 cm x 9 cm, on red paper. Colour in both sides of the circles to look like sliced tomatoes, with a soft core and seeds.

Lettuce

Draw and cut out a roughly round lettuce leaf shape on green paper, 14 cm x 14 cm. Scrunch and manipulate the green paper to look like a large salad leaf. Loosely draw lines on the now textured surface of the green paper to create contrast.

Swiss cheese

Scrunch and open out yellow 10 cm x 10 cm paper. Cut holes into the yellow paper to make it look like Swiss cheese.

Paper bowls

Cut paper squares with the following colours and measurements:

  • Two sand/beige coloured, 14 cm x 14 cm
  • Two white coloured, 14 cm x 14 cm
  • Two dark brown, 13 cm x 13 cm

Diagonally fold an X into square paper. Flip and parallel fold paper in both directions.

Fold down into a smaller square by inwardly lining up the diagonal folds. Lay on the table diagonally, with the open sides pointed toward you.

Fold the upper closed sides toward the middle line of the diagonal square. Flip the paper and repeat on the other side. We now have an upside-down diamond shape.

Open out the small folds from the previous instruction. Bend the outer folds of these small triangles inward. Repeat for all four small triangles. Then rotate the diamond into an upright diamond shape.

Bring the short upper sides of the diamond shape toward the middle line. Then reverse the folded triangle pockets toward the sides. Repeat this instruction on all sides. The folded shape will now look like a tiny triangle above a wider inverted triangle.

Glue and fold inward the tiny triangles. Gently open out the folded sides of the paper into a wide, shallow bowl.

Burger bun and patty

Scrunch up scrap paper and pop into the white-coloured bowls, and one of the dark brown bowls. Slide a sand-coloured bowl over the white bowls. Slide the two dark brown bowls together. We now have two halves of a burger bun and a burger patty.

Emoji and seeds

Decorate the top bun with an Emoji face and bun seeds, using puffy paints or marker pens.
