Former Brisbane Lions player and coach Jed Adcock and partner Amber Ward tied the knot in a stunning celebration on the Gold Coast.
The couple, who met through mutual friends in 2018, married on October 26 at Wynmere Estate at Mount Tamborine in front of almost 80 guests.
The sleek black and white theme featured an all-white, three-tiered cake, a venue filled with only white florals, a runway-style aisle, Champagne tower, and guests were asked to wear all black.
But it was the couple’s first dance moment that proved an ultimate crowd pleaser, with the newlyweds and their bridal party choreographing a dance the night before their wedding to Robbie Williams’ hit Rock DJ.
Ward relied on help from their wedding planner and events team to pull together the event from interstate with the couple now based in Essendon following Adcock’s move to be an assistant coach for North Melbourne at the end of 2023.
Their day was made even more special with all their children there, including the pair’s son Hugo, 4, who slept through the entire ceremony.
Hugo was joined by the pair’s children from previous relationships including Ward’s daughter Lilly, 8, who was a flower girl, and Adcock’s children Lily, 13, a bridesmaid and Archie, 11, a ring bearer.
First dance song?
Robbie Williams – Rock DJ.
Hen’s night?
I had an amazing hen’s weekend arranged by my four bridesmaids. They hired a beautiful Airbnb in Pullenvale. It started with a relaxing night and then the second day was fun-filled with free-flowing cocktails, lots of games, a wild ride in a stretch Hummer and a very brief karaoke session in the city!
Honeymoon?
We will be heading off on a honeymoon next year.
Theme?
Black – all guests wore black.
How did you choose your wedding venue?
We fell in love with Wynmere Estate after just one visit. We loved the style of the venue and the fact that they had so much on offer. There were many different options for where the ceremony could take place with a gorgeous area for cocktail hour and then the stunning reception hall where we danced the night away.
How did you choose your wedding dress?
I always know what I want and I had my eye on this style of dress. It was the first dress I tried on. I only tried on three in total but I always knew that this would be the dress I would wear. My second dress was from Babyboo Fashion, I loved the bow so much.
What did you think when you saw Amber for the first time?
Jed: That is not the dress she told me she was wearing! Amber always told me she was wearing her hair down with a strapless, poofy dress to trick me so it was the complete opposite to what I was expecting. She looked absolutely breathtaking.
What was the most stressful part of wedding planning?
Amber: Organising the wedding from interstate! But we are so thankful for our wedding planner Drew from the White Stag who had the wedding running absolutely seamlessly on the day. And to Zoe from Panorama Events for helping me bring my dream wedding to life through her styling. We could not have asked for a more perfect day.
What was the standout moment of the day? Probably the runway-style seating for the aisle.
I always had the idea of a runway aisle and although I didn’t really take much notice of it in real time as I was so nervous, looking back at the photos it’s unreal to see how well it turned out. The other standout moment would have to be Jed’s beautiful speech as the groom. Can confirm there was not a dry eye in the room!
What would you do differently?Try to enjoy the planning process a little bit more. I like to be in control and I have learnt along the way that there are lots of things that you simply cannot control.
What was a non-negotiable? A Champagne tower, delicious food and good music!
Top wedding hack?
Have a stylist and wedding planner.
Best advice for other couples planning a wedding?
To enjoy every moment as it goes so quickly. We had a first look of the reception space with our bridal party and it was so nice to go inside and enjoy some cocktails together.
