Gold Coaster Dylan Stumer’s big break on US show Good Cop/ Bad Cop

A Gold Coaster has been cast in the US TV show Good Cop/ Bad Cop starring Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester in his fist big international role. FULL STORY.

A Gold Coast actor has landed his first big international break, cast in TV series Good Cop/Bad Cop starring Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester.

Dylan Stumer, who is based between the Gold Coast and Brisbane, said he was excited as soon as he read about the much-heralded police ‘dramedy’, also featuring Australian actor Luke Cook.

“There’s always this incredible feeling when you read about the show and get that excited, almost gut feeling — it’s like you just know you want it more than you even realised,” he said.

“When I read my character breakdown for the role of Officer Gukasov I loved it and I really

connected with the script.”

Mr Stumer said the role was a bit of an adjustment as he’d never played a policeman before.

“I’ve never played a cop before, especially not a US cop, so the dialect coaching I’ve done

over the years really came in handy,” he said.

“It was exciting to dive into that role and fully explore it [and] sharing the screen with Luke Cook made the experience even better as he’s incredibly talented and hilarious.”

Mr Stumer said he was excited to see where the role would take him.

“Gaining exposure in your local market is one thing, but on a global scale it’s even

more exciting.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing what opportunities this opens up for me and can’t wait to continue this journey, especially with so many productions coming to the Gold Coast.

“I’ve been training for years, and I’m ready to dive in and make the most of it.”

Mr Stumer said the taste of global attention hadn’t killed his passion for smaller, local projects.

“Even after working on such a high-scale production, I still love working on smaller, local

projects,” he said.

“These are where the next wave of Australian filmmakers and crews are coming from and I think it’s so important to support and lift up our own.

“I also make sure to stay connected by attending events like the Gold Coast Film Festival each year and the AACTA Awards.

“It’s a great way to support the local industry and connect with other creatives.”

Good Cop/Bad Cop is now streaming on Stan.
