A NEW private boys school is coming to the Gold Coast, but its urban, open-plan set up is unlike anything the region has seen.
A long-term project of the Men of Business (MOB) charity and founder Marco Renai, the senior school in Southport will offer short programs for boys at risk.
The independent special assistance school, to be called MOB Academy, is scheduled to open in February next year.

The school will mentor 90 boys aged 15-17 who have become disengaged from the school system.
“I want to challenge the education system, see if we can create new models to get kids to stay in schools,” Mr Renai said.
“If rates of expulsions continue to rise we need to look at what we are doing.
“If, as a businessman, my customers were leaving I would have to write a new business model.
“There are plenty of students out there not engaging with the schooling system and I believe it has to change.”

The school project is also supported by MOB board member Jason Sessargo, the principal and CEO of Arcadia College.
