New $7 million Broadbeach dining precinct to open in August

Construction has begun on a new multimillion-dollar dining precinct on the Gold Coast. Here’s the amazing array of restaurants the site has planned.

CONSTRUCTION has begun on a new $7 million Broadbeach dining precinct to open in August.

The Good Time Group, helmed by SuperUtes driver Ben Walsh, will exclusively operate the 1900sq m food and beverage retail space under the five-star Avani apartment tower, which will include renowned restaurant Miss Moneypenny’s, an American-style sports bar, Fat Freddy’s Beach Bar & Diner and private dining The Rimini Room.

Noosa institution Miss Moneypenny’s will be a hybrid bar and styled dining space sprawling across 750sq m with indoor/outdoor seating for up to 200 guests and a fireplace.

“It’s an evolution of the Noosa one, but we’ve bumped the aesthetics and design up a few notches,” Mr Walsh said.

Fat Freddy’s Beach Bar & Diner will specialise in American whiskey and beer, bourbon and reimagined American diner favourites.

SHOCK CLOSURE OF CURRUMBIN FAVOURITE, ALLURE

It will feature a luxury gaming lounge with 38 electronic gaming machines, private access via an underground 28 space carpark, a “wall of infamy” and seating for 165 people.

“There’s a few surprises we’ll leave to opening, but I haven’t seen anything like it in Australia,” Mr Walsh said.

The Rimini Room will be a ritzy dining and function space for up to 120 guests, setting the scene for A-list parties, long lunches and corporate dinners away from the prying eyes of the public.

“We’ve got a sole use private elevator so if people want anonymity they are really going to get it,” he said.

ITALIAN EATERY LATEST SHOCK CLOSURE

“We’ve already had a lot of interest.”

The three offerings will be brought to life with the help of Sydney hospitality design company Paul Kelly Design, an expanded version of the vision first revealed in 2017.

“We were originally opening in time for the Commonwealth Games, but in hindsight I’m glad we didn’t push to open for that date because the opportunity to take this extra space came up,” Mr Walsh said.

“We went back to the drawing board.”

Fat Freddy’s Beach Bar & Diner is tipped to open early August, followed several weeks later by Miss Moneypenny’s and The Rimini Room.
