Molendinar resident writes angry message on sprinkler booster after damage

Residents of a northern Gold Coast street favoured by the so-called Mexican Hoon Cartel are so fed up with the damage and burnouts that one resident has left them an angry message in the most unlikely spot.

ANGRY residents have sent a message to hoons who have been terrorising their suburban street.

On Saturday night there was yet another hooning incident which left a sprinkler booster damaged and a tree uprooted on Distribution Avenue.

Distribution Avenue has been a favoured spot of the Mexican Hoon Cartel.

One local heard the crash close to midnight and went to investigate finding several people fleeing the scene.

“There was a ute had ripped the tree out of the ground — it must’ve hit with pretty good force and also hit the fire hydrant,” he said.

“When we arrived they were trying to get away as quick as they could.”

Another annoyed resident painted an angry message on the damaged sprinkler booster.

“Hoon scum did this hope driver hurt bad,” the message read.

The witness said this type of hooning wasn’t uncommon.

“I’ve been living in the area about 10 years and about three nights a week we get high-pitched motors in the area,” he said.

“I can hear it inside my house and I live several hundred metres away. It just irks me it can go on night after night. It’s just never ending.

“They seem to be there for hours and hours some nights, more on weekends. They don’t care about anyone else's safety or their own as far as I can see.

“They’re animals and I’ve got no doubt they’re probably on drugs as well quite a few of them.”

Police were unaware of the incident.
