SHE has made birthday cakes for Johnny Depp, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston and has been hailed as the go-to cake maker for the stars who visit the Coast.
Now pastry chef Louisa Massignani, of Cakes Alouisa will compete in the The International Cake Show in Brisbane on May 18 to 20, showcasing her specialty — wedding cakes.
She will be joined by another local cake designer Shayne Greenman, of Mt Tamborine Wedding Cakes as part of the group of nine finalists in the Australian Haute Couture Wedding Cake Designer of the Year category.
AMBER HEARD’S GOLD COAST BIRTHDAY CAKE
The bakers will need to create a haute couture wedding cake in the theme of “Rich, Royal and Regal” — a fitting theme considering the winner will be announced on the evening of the Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The accomplished baker, who completed an apprenticeship more than 25 years ago, specialises in wedding cakes but has made impressive birthday cakes for some of the biggest international celebrities.
“I made a Tim Burton, steam punk style cake as a surprise for Johnny for his birthday. It had a hot-air balloon and a boat with wheels,” she said.
“He just so happened to be there when I delivered the cake so I got to meet him, he was really happy with it.”
Ms Massignani’s talents have been spread among the celebrity world by word of mouth, having made a Thor inspired cake for Chris Hemsworth and a King Kong themed creation for actor Tom Hiddleston who was on the Gold Coast filming King Kong.
While she cannot give details on her wedding cake creation for the Cake Show, she said she drew inspiration from the words “rich and opulent”.
The International Cake Show is in Brisbane Showgrounds, Exhibition Building on May 18 to 20.
