Lara Worthington has opened up about her evolving relationship with exercise since becoming a mum.

The 35-year-old model and mum-of-three criticised the pressure put on mums to “bounce back” after having a baby, stating she “hates” what it does to women.

Instead, she explained she prefers to focus on her wellbeing rather than sweating it out with a gruelling workout session, revealing as a result she feels better than ever in her body.

“I have to remind myself that it’s OK that your body is changing, especially after the first [pregnancy],” she told Body + Soul.

“It was really enjoyable for me, especially the first one, because I didn’t know what was ahead.

“I hate that term ‘getting your body back’, because I think it’s a nice journey to go on.

“Women’s bodies do incredible things, and I don’t think it should ever be looked at in a negative way... We’re giving life.”

Lara, who shares three sons Rocket, 7, Racer, 5, and River, 2 with actor husband Sam Worthington, went on to remind women to be kinder to themselves - especially when it comes to exercising.

“It’s important to not be so hard on yourself, because being a mum is the hardest job in the world,” she said.

“It’s not a one-size-fits-all thing. I was always trying, and am still trying, to find that balance with one, and then two, and then three [kids], and then balancing everything else.

“I think that’s the long-term challenge.”

Despite juggling a busy workload - the former Sydneysider has been back in Australia recently to attend modelling shoots and launch her new activewear line with fitness brand 2XU - with maintaining her health and fitness, Lara said she feels “better now in my body versus when I was younger”.

As well as her candid chat with the Australian publication, Lara also posed for the magazine’s front cover, resulting in a series of gorgeous new shots.

In one snap, Lara is seen rocking a blue halter-neck top with a pair of denim shorts that were worn with a pair of her 2XU tights worn underneath.

Another shot shows Lara wearing a 2XU top under a pink miniskirt with a revealing cut-out on the side that shows off her upper thigh.

As well as performing official duties as part of her ambassador role with the fitness label, Lara has been spotted enjoying her home country during her visit away from her family based in New York.

Not long after arriving Down Under, she headed to Bondi beach with best friend Phoebe Tonkin where the pair enjoyed a dip in the water.

She also shot a new fashion campaign for British brand Aries at an undisclosed Sydney beach where she was snapped wearing an array of cool outfits.
