A long-running Gold Coast choir which included a 93-year-old man, has come to an end after 10 years of concerts and performances.

A long-running Gold Coast choir of elderly has hit its final note.
The Lady Small Haven Retirement Village Choir is coming to an end after ten years of the ensemble.
The group held a concert on Thursday with many songs, thanks and solo acts.
Dr Roslyn Dunbar-Wells started it with her late husband Rod Wells in 2009 when he heard a lady singing in the room next door in the Lady Small Haven Retirement Village.

Dr Dunbar-Wells has decided now is a good time to retire from the choir while she can leave on a high note.

“You just need to know when to draw the line,” Dr Dunbar-Wells said.
Without a permanent director, the choir will now only meet for concerts around Christmas time and for special occasions.
The Lady Small Haven Choir has performed 21 shows with at least 50 performances to over 4500 people in its time.

Singing kept minds active, had healing properties and reminded people of old times, she said.
“The songs link them into events that happened when they were younger, it’s a trigger to take them back into happy times.”
David Hall, 93, sang a beautiful rendition of Carol Channing’s Hello, Dolly! Which had everyone in the room singing along.
Mr Hall joined the Lady Small Haven Choir three years ago after a lifetime of professional singing.
He planned to continue singing after the choir and described life as one great long song.
“With every breath in my body I sing,” Mr Hall said.
