A GOLD Coast theatre company is taking audiences down the rabbit hole with their take on a classic children’s tale.

Spotlight Theatre Company this week debuted their very own “Alice in Wonderland” pantomime, featuring an all-Gold Coast cast.

Writer and director Nathan French said the show was written both to entertain families and introduce children to the art of pantomime.

“It’s such a classic story with many iconic characters throughout, and to see them live in front of you and talking to you is an experience I wanted to bring to life.

Community members of all ages were enlisted to take on the iconic roles, including the Mad Hatter, Red Queen and Alice herself.

The youngest member of the cast is just 11 years old, with Mr French only brave enough to say the oldest is “in her 40s”.

“Nearly yearly there’s always these many wonderful versions of the story being told,” he said.
