Sonia Kruger stuns in a $4,000 Dolce & Gabbanna dress for race day

The 55-year-old race day ambassador showed off her age-defying figure in a pricey designer outfit at the Golden Slipper race over the weekend.

All that glitters: The Golden Slipper

The glitziest event on the horse racing calendar brought a host of celebs to Sydney’s Rosehill Gardens today, with the weather clearing up just in time to make way for some glamorous fashion looks.

Originally due to take place last weekend, the prestigious Golden Slipper race was postponed due to Sydney’s downpour, with stars including Sonia Kruger, Candice Warner and Mel McLaughlin making an appearance.

While most of the red carpet looks were simply stunning, including model Clementine McVeigh’s showstopping all-white look, kicking off the fashion stakes was races royalty Kate Waterhouse.

Stunning followers with a strapless black midi-length gown with edgy cut-outs paired with a black hat with statement veiling over her face, the fashion icon and Channel 7 reporter shared a preview of her look on Instagram this morning.

“Take 2 … Golden Slipper Day,” the 37-year-old, who is the daughter of famed horse trainer Gai Waterhouse, captioned the series of images.

In a nod to the day’s “touch of gold” theme, her veil featured speckles of gold with matching sparkly eyeshadow.

Never putting a foot wrong on any event carpet, Waterhouse similarly chose a striking floral outfit to kick off the racing calendar at the Autumn Racing Carnival Launch earlier this month.

She rocked the floaty wrap dress with a fluffy black shoulder bag and a jewelled headband.

Elsewhere, Autumn Racing Carnival Ambassador Sonia Kruger — who looked fabulous in statement orange at the launch — made her first race appearance in the coveted role alongside Golden Slipper ambassadors Candice Warner and Clementine McVeigh.

The 55-year-old took to her Instagram to unveil her classy look, posing in a $4000 off-the-shoulder Dolce & Gabbana dress and stunning Ana Bella Millinery black headpiece.

“We’re off and racing!” she captioned the snap.

“Beautiful dress you look amazing,” one follower wrote.

The Holey Moley host flaunted her age-defying figure in the form-fitting dress and accessorised the look with a pair of sunnies and nude Bulgari clutch.

Kruger was unveiled as the face of the 2021 race day carnival earlier this month, revealing she was looking forward to having “a flutter” on a horse at one of the six races.
