International Space Station passes over Gold Coast tonight

Gold Coasters are in for a double dose of nightlights when they look up into the night sky tonight.

THANKS to the reflection of the sun, the International Space Station will be visible once again in the Gold Coast sky this evening — and tomorrow.

NASA’s nifty little station will be visible for just four minutes at 6.25pm this evening, appearing in a south westerly direction before disappearing north easterly.

On Saturday, it will be visible for six minutes from 5.36pm, moving in a similar direction.

The station will only be visible if there aren’t many clouds and can be seen with the naked eye.

The space station is Earth’s only microgravity laboratory, according to NASA.

It is the size of a football field and hosts a “plethora” of science and technology experiments to benefit life on Earth.
