A NEW Gold Coast mum was trying to juggle an early morning workout by rushing over to check on her five-week-old son in 30 second breaks of her high-intensity training.

But what happened next warmed her heart.

Her 25-year-old trainer at F45 Southport picked up the crying bub and continued instructing the class so mum could continue her workout.

Morgan Meredith, who has been a trainer at F45 Southport for more than a year, said she didn’t think twice when Manawa Ruki’s baby boy Nephi started to cry.

“The bub was so cute, so it was such an easy to decision to give him a cuddle to settle,” Ms Meredeth said.

“Being able to give anyone an opportunity to train is what I’m all about.

“We try to make the gym as inclusive as possible and create a family vibe where everyone feels welcome and comfortable.

“I just wanted to do my little bit to make sure Manawa could get a good session in without worrying about bub crying.”

Ms Ruki, who had been running over to check on her son in the 30-second intervals between high energy exercises, said her trainer’s actions were exactly the reason she felt comfortable to train so soon after becoming a mother.

“I was doing F45 here at Southport before I got pregnant and when I got pregnant I had to stop obviously, but the whole time I felt like I was missing out.

“I couldn’t wait to come back.

“The trainers are a big thing here, you can probably see by what Morgs did today, and I’ve made a lot of good friends too and the workouts are really good.”

Ms Ruki said environments like the F45 community was the key to helping new mums stay fit and positive after giving birth.

“I do get a bit worried with him being in the classes, but it’s such a community, having people like Morgan in there makes me feel a lot better.

Ms Ruki said the community was the main reason she felt comfortable to go back to training so soon after giving birth.

“Having places like this to train really shows that mums can get back into it.

“And it’s good to get out of the house, being a new mum is hard obviously so it’s really good I can do something that’s good for me.

“It is hard getting up at 5am to train, but that’s what time he wakes up anyway so I figure I might as well do something productive with the time.”
