‘Horrible’: Hot people expose disadvantages of being ‘beautiful’

A group of self-described “beautiful” people have exposed the disadvantages of being incredibly good-looking.

'I'm too hot to date and men are intimidated'

A group of self-described “beautiful” people have exposed the disadvantages of being incredibly good-looking.

Data shows “hot” people benefit from the perks “pretty privilege”, such as earning higher salaries on average and consistently receiving preferential treatment across a wide range of areas.

However, a string of men and women who claim they are “traditionally attractive”, have boldly suggested there are many downsides to being desirable.

A Reddit thread asking, “What was your horrible experience for being attractive?” has gone viral after attracting thousands of comments from frustrated hotties around the globe.

Why men are 'terrified' of this woman

One woman explained that interested suitors will often put her down in an attempt at asking her out.

“I’ve met a shocking amount of men who think if they can get my self-esteem low enough, I’ll be into them. It’s insane,” one shared.

Another lamented that “the dark side of pretty privilege is that you are lusted over and not loved, people just want to say they have experienced you”.

While others said they were sick of people presuming they are “dumb” simply because they are “hot”.

It’s not just romantic endeavours that drop-dead gorgeous people struggle with, as it also apparently affects plutonic relationships.

“When people who are your ‘friends’ take every chance they can to criticise your appearance or anything else, whatever little crumb of shade they can use to ‘humble’ you,” shared one.

“I’ve experienced others pretending to be friends just to be seen with me,” claimed someone else.

While one said friendships can become “difficult” when you’re good-looking because your appearance may cause close pals to feel insecure — “even if you think highly of them”.

Someone else added that “people often assume I’m vain, which isn’t true”, as another said their good looks result in them regularly being “underestimated”.

There were more understandable responses among the lengthy thread, including many about the recurring theme of “unwanted attention” and harassment.

“Apparently I want everyone’s husbands,” one woman responded.

“I have been accused a few times of flirting with men when I’m literally just doing my job. I don’t want your crusty a – man. Some days I barely don’t want my own man,” someone who worked in childcare wrote.

‘No one talks about how hard it is to be hot’

While the eye-opening thread has captured attention, it is not the first time those with “good genetics” have complained about issues they face as a direct result of being attractive.

A woman named Ashley went viral after complaining that men are “terrified” of her because she’s “pretty and smart” in June.

The “very single” fashion designer said she has zero men romantically pursuing her because her good looks put guys off.

“Men don’t like me. Men are very, very terrified of me,” she said on TikTok.

“At the end of the day, I’m merely just a fantasy. I am not a real human because of the pretty and scary.

“So yes, I’m alone. I’m very, very, very, very single.”

Influencer Hope Schwing, 24, shared similar relationship struggles – despite describing herself as “gorgeous”.

“Being incredibly hot is honestly a curse,” she said last year.

“No one talks about how hard it is to be literally so hot that you can’t get a boyfriend.

“All men are extremely scared and intimidated by you.”
