Gold Coast woman to sing national anthem at the Australia Day test match cricket
She’s been a back up singer for one of biggest bands in the world and now this Coast singer is ready to face her next challenge — singing the national anthem in front of her largest crowd yet.

A GOLD Coast singer has been bowled up the chance of a lifetime to perform the national anthem on Australia Day in front of thousands at the Gabba and potentially a television audience of millions.
Palm Beach local Brooke Supple, 39, whose career has included being a back-up singer for Irish pop/rock band The Corrs, says she seized the opportunity to perform on Saturday — day three of the Test cricket match between Australia and Sri Lanka.

“It’s so exciting. I don’t think I have ever sung in front of so many people before,” she said.
The Brisbane Cricket Ground — known as the Gabba — seats 42,000 spectators. But the TV audience promises to be massive.

“I don’t know many of the details yet, but I do know that it will be televised live on Channel 7 and Foxtel,” she said.

“I didn’t apply for it. They asked me. They are sponsoring me this year through the Australian Cricket Board.”
Ms Supple is based back on the Gold Coast after leaving to live in London for 13 years to pursue her career as a musician.
“I was a back-up singer for the Corrs. It was an amazing experience,” she said.

“It really evolved with my song writing.”
Since returning home about a year ago, many local venues have been keen for her to show off her talent.
“I’ve been performing a lot at local cafes around the Coast,” she said.
“I have an album coming out next month. I’m jumping on the festival scene with an indie-folk-country vibe style of music.’’
Ms Supple’s national anthem performance will broadcast live on TV about 12.30pm on Australia Day.
