THE Central Business District of a major capital city might not sound like everybody’s first choice for a destination wedding.
But Gold Coast high school sweethearts Maegan Keech and Zachary Margetts were able to transform the hustle and bustle of busy Melbourne into a serene location for their special day.
THE COUPLE: Maegan Keech, 25, orthodontic assistant and Zachary Margetts, 26, warehouse manager
THE LOVE STORY: The pair met at school in 2003 on the Gold Coast. “We were crushing on each other in middle school before we finally got together in grade 12,” Maegan says. Then last Easter, Zachary made the move 14 years after they first met. “We were on a family vacation in Melbourne and Zac whisked me away to Carlton Gardens, our favourite gardens, and got down on one knee,” Maegan recalls. “There was a lot of crying! We had both been dreaming of this day for so many years.”
THE BIG DAY: February 4, 2018 at The Sheraton on Little Collins, back in Melbourne. “We had a destination wedding, we invited 40 of our favourite people in the world and every single person joined us,” Maegan says. “Seeing everyone there dancing and having an amazing time made our day all that more special.”
THE DRESS: Frankie Gown by Made with Love, “The first dress I ever pinned on Pinterest and the first dress I ever tried on,” Maegan says. “It was love at first sight ... and it has pockets!”
THE SOUNDTRACK: The blushing bride walked down the aisle to Jack Johnson’s song Angel. They had their first dance to Use Somebody by Kings of Leon.
