More than 100 workers are being sought for a new McDonald’s outlet beside the busy Westfield Coomera Town Centre.

The slab for the Foxwell Rd restaurant was poured on Tuesday August 30.

Owner Michael Power said it meant builders were on target to hand over the premises on December ninth ahead of its planned opening three days later.

“We’re opening in early December, prior to Christmas,” Mr Power said.

“We’re hiring 120 staff. And then it’ll be 24/7.

“It’ll be bigger than Pimpama in its layout. It’s a bigger footprint.

“And it’s a different design inside.”

The new McDonald’s will be one of the first of a slate of new developments to open in the Coomera Town Centre Precinct in coming months which will need hundreds of new workers to fill roles.

Costco is expected to open its first Gold Coast store there early in the new year, while new KFC and Taco Bell restaurants will follow in March.

Mr Power, who is also the franchisee behind five other northern Gold Coast McDonald’s restaurants, said he had begun hiring staff for the new Coomera outlet.

“We’ve got to hire 120 crew, which we’ll put into the five (existing) stores to get trained,” Mr Power said.

“Then we’ll put them into the new store. So it will open with experienced crew.”

Mr Power on Thursday celebrated thirty years in business on the Gold Coast, having opened his first restaurant on Siganto Drive in Helensvale on September 1, 1992.

He said the biggest changes he had seen in that time were the introduction of McCafe coffee and the rise of home delivery services.
