‘Game changer’ detail in $5 Coles treat goes viral

The supermarket item might look just like a regular snack but it’s gone viral because of one exciting fact.

$5 Coles vegan chocolate goes viral

It can be far too easy to polish off a block of chocolate these days – especially if you’re unlucky enough to be in lockdown right now.

Which is why shoppers with a sweet tooth are waxing lyrical about a range of chocolate from Coles that comes with a “game changer” detail.

Priced at $5 a block, Coles’ Sunburnt Series range of chocolate hit shelves late last year in three flavours: mint, orange and toffee.

But the range has gone viral on TikTok this week after a shopper pointed out they were lower in calories compared to a standard chocolate block.

“Low calorie chocolate from Coles, one whole block will only set you back 250 calories,” TikTok user Kaitlin Knight shared in a TikTok that’s been viewed 78,000 times.

The chocolate can be found in the health food section of Coles and is vegan, gluten-free, nut-free and soy free.

“I’ve tried all three flavours and actually my favourite is orange,” Kaitlin said.

The video got over 140 comments from people keen to try it out, with one shopper joking: “OK cool so I’ll have three blocks.”

“OMG what a GAME CHANGER,” another commented.

“I need to find this,” one person wrote.

However several others pointed out that it was important to read the label before eating the chocolate, which read: “WARNING: EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION OF THIS PRODUCT MAY HAVE A LAXATIVE EFFECT.”

“Just be careful before eating the entire block,” one person commented.

Kaitlin also added that she wasn’t “saying eat the block in one sitting, I’m just saying the calories per block”.

It’s not the first low-calorie item from Coles to go viral – back in July the supermarket released a range of low calorie bread in its bakery.

TikTok user Jasmine Templin posted a video revealing how the bread had half the normal carbs and higher protein than a standard loaf of white bread, making it a smart option if you were watching your calorie intake.

The video racked up more than 27,000 views, with people stunned the calories were “so low”.

“Shhhh don’t tell people my secret; there will be none left,” one person joked.
