Fashion Nova leotard mocked online for looking like ‘dental floss’

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all – out comes this questionable look which some have described as “dental floss”.

When it comes to fashion in 2021, there’s some pretty questionable looks out there – like this extremely high-cut leotard that caused quite the stir online.

US outlet Fashion Nova is the retailer behind the racy outfit and the moment they shared a post of an Aussie model wearing the one-piece, it got bombarded with fierce criticism.

“This looks soooo un natural lol” one Instagram user wrote.

“When you need to floss your uhaul but need to feel pretty too,” a second person commented.

“Wtf,” another person simply added, while a fourth joked: “My coochie could never.”

Abby Dowse, an influencer who is a Fashion Nova partner, flaunted the look which features a strip of very narrow material that barely covers the crotch.

The post has racked up more than 327,000 ‘likes’ and more than 13,000 comments since it was posted on Tuesday, with many continuing to argue it doesn’t protect a woman’s modesty.

“Who else saw the first pic and ran to the comment section and got exactly what they were expecting,” one person commented.

However, despite the model wearing the bodysuit on its own, photos on the brand’s website show the bodysuit worn under a pair of high-waisted leggings, which are sold as a set for $A38.50.

And it’s got plenty of positive reviews on the website.

“I haven’t really got to wear this outfit but I needed to try it on. It’s so cute and makes me feel really sexy,” one woman wrote.

“Loveeee this set! The top is revealing, but just add some pasties if you’re concerned,” said another.

It’s not the first time a Fashion Nova outfit has been slammed.

In 2019, this “naked bra” completely baffled shoppers.

“I didn’t know pieces of strings could cost so much,” one fan said about the $57 look.

The racy ensemble clocked more than 88,000 ‘likes’ on Instagram.
